PAPPUS FLEX

Pappus Flex is a low-energy intensive solution for local production of bioplastic packaging, interior or decorative and sculpting material. The use of hand-harvested Pappus (raw cellulose-lignin structure enabling seeds to spread in the wind) from the invasive plant Araujia sericifera with its fine, highly mechanical, hair-like structure, enhances the toughness and strength of the material. Pappus FLEX is a sample of biobased and biodegradable materials that start with environmental management of reducing the moth plant’s spread of seeds and uses its byproduct as raw, untreated composite for the material matrix.
